Friends of Miami Animals Foundation Hosts Be a Friend Fundraiser

Miami, FL – January 16th, 2020 – FoMA’s first annual Be a Friend event, hosted by Brigitt and Alan Potamkin at their home hosted more than 150 guests.  Guests joined FoMA’s Founder, Yolanda Berkowitz and board members Hal Lucas and Danielle Calleja to show their support for FoMA, whose mission is to save and improve the lives of homeless pets in Miami-Dade County through education, advocacy, financial support and increased awareness.

One of the main announcements of the evening was FoMA’s sponsorship of a Mobile Wellness Unit, (“MWU”), which will provide mobile veterinary medical services in underserved communities for pet owners. The MWU will offer routine vet care, vaccines and encourage spay/neuter. Attendees were able to tour the truck and take pictures.

Yolanda Berkowitz, Founder and President of FoMA, also announced a new partnership created by FoMA between The Underline and Miami-Dade County Animal Services (MDAS). The anticipated alliance will bring the shelter to the community and will allow for a bigger community outreach for all pets and pet owners of Miami-Dade County. The soft opening is tentatively scheduled for October and we will have more information as we know more. Click here for more information on The Underline project.
